Job Summary

Safety and Works Improvement Project Officer

Temporary Full Time until 28 February 2027

Band 6 $97222.14 super RDO(RDO applicable for full-time 38 hours per week only)

Join us and play a key role in strengthening safety process efficiency and service delivery across our Works teams.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Safety Works & Improvement Projects Officerto support the development of a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement across councils road crew operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about safe work practices operational excellence and building capability within teams that deliver essential services for our community.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Review develop and improve SWMS SOPs plant risk assessments and operational procedures.
  • Support supervisors and crews to embed safe efficient and compliant work practices.
  • Identify opportunities for improved workflows and greater service efficiency.
  • Coordinate training and ongoing capability development for roads staff.
  • Assist manage daily works programs
  • Build strong relationships across Works OHS and corporate teams to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.

This role contributes directly to our commitment to safe highquality service delivery for the community.

What Were Looking For

  • Bring solid technical knowledge of OHS legislation risk management and safe work systems.
  • Have experience within operations road services infrastructure or civil works environments.
  • Are confident engaging with staff at all levels
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Can learn new systems and processes quickly and help others adapt to change.
  • Are proactive collaborative and committed to delivering safe and effective outcomes for the organisation and community.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Experience in OHS operational works compliance or continuous improvement (council or similar industry preferred).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and motivate diverse teams.
  • Competence in developing and reviewing safety documentation such as SWMS SOPs and risk assessments.
  • Relevant qualifications in OHS continuous improvement operations or similar (desirable).
