Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the USDA SCINet high-performance computing network. You will ensure network reliability and security across multiple ARS sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design implement and optimize SCINets high-performance network infrastructure.
- Manage SD-WAN and IP routing between Internet2 and commodity Internet connections.
- Collaborate daily with GlobalNOC and OmniSOC to ensure optimal network performance and security.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple sites ensuring high availability for scientific research.
- Implement network security measures and ensure compliance with federal standards.
- Maintain network documentation and contribute to the integration of emerging technologies.
Requirements:
- Minimum: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Network Engineering or a related field.
- Proven track record in configuring and managing routers switches and firewalls.
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and services (AWS Azure).
- Experience with network virtualization technologies (VMware NSX Cisco ACI).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- 8 years of network engineering experience with a background in high-performance computing or large-scale networks.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN advanced routing and network security protocols.
- Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners (e.g. Internet2 and ARS locations).
