JOB SUMMARY
The job of Head Coach is done for the purpose/s of coordinating organizing promoting and operating an assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the student athlete school and community. Provide effective leadership in the school and the community. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics. Develop a healthy relationship with the student athlete parents and community and be a positive role model.
This job reports to Athletic Director under the supervision of the Building Principaland is a temporary limited-duration position for the Spring 2025/26 Tennis season.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compilesand maintains accurate individual and team performance records
- Assuresthe necessary set up and take down of equipment as well as maintaining aclean facility
- Attendsmeetings scheduled by the Athletic Director
- Complieswith rules regulations and policies of the district athleticconference and O.S.A.A.
- Educates studentathletes and assistant coaches in safety procedures including the need to report injuries immediately to coach/trainer
- Fosters team building concepts
- Implementsappropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensures the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cardsat all times
- Issuescollects inventories and stores equipment in a safe and secure location
- Modelspositive and professional characteristics and conduct
- Monitorsathletes school attendance grades and personal conduct
- Motivatesindividuals and the team both on and off the playing field/court
- Plansorganizes and implements the teaching fundamentals strategies and rules of an assigned sport
- Providesassistance at contests or events not associated with assigned sport and attends fundraising events
- Stays knowledgeable of changing rules techniques and philosophies relevant to the assigned sport
- Supervisespractices and contests including locker rooms and buses
- Ridesbuses to and from away events
- Composesand distributes media releases
- Directsactivities of assistants
- Coordinatesoff-season physical conditioning programs
- Recruitsstudents for participation in sport
- Performsother duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Knowledge of rules regulations and policies of the district athletic conferences and O.S.A.A.
- Excellentinterpersonal communication skills
- Abilityto work with disgruntled adults and students
- Abilityto work with frequent interruptions
- CPR/FirstAid Certificate required
- Valid Oregon driverlicense
- ASEPCertified
- Clearance of a criminal background check and fingerprinting
