Job Summary

Electrical Test Engineer Motor & Power Electronics Testing

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Test Engineer to support motor inverter and electrification system testing. The role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to execute Product Verification & Validation (PV&V) activities and support product development.


Job Description

The role partners closely with cross-functional teams including power electronics electronic design software and mechanical engineering to ensure testing aligns with product specifications and validation standards.

Under guidance from senior engineers the engineer conducts electric motor and inverter characterization product verification & validation (PV&V) testing and documents results through clear technical reports that support design decisions. All work is performed hands-on with a strong focus on safety quality delivery and cost.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect & Organize Test Requirements
    • Gather review and structure test requirements from internal and external stakeholders
    • Provide feedback to ensure requirements are complete and testable
  • Support PV&V Testing
    • Execute Product Verification & Validation testing for motors inverters converters and electrification systems
    • Support testing both in-house labs and external facilities
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate test plans procedures results and schedules
    • Prepare clear concise technical reports to support design verification
  • Troubleshooting & Debugging
    • Apply structured root-cause analysis methods
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues efficiently
  • Cross-Functional & Customer Collaboration
    • Work closely with internal teams and external customers to align testing objectives
    • Support concept development and refinement of requirements
  • Testing Compliance
    • Ensure testing aligns with product specifications design intent and John Deere standards
  • Travel
    • Domestic travel 1 2 times per year (U.S. only)

Education

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering Agricultural Engineering Industrial Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Basic understanding of embedded controllers
  • Knowledge of safe high-voltage practices
  • Understanding of motor control principles
  • Experience with design validation / verification processes
  • Hands-on experience with motor dynamometers (dynos)
  • Proficiency with lab tools: oscilloscopes multimeters power analyzers
  • Familiarity with microcontroller peripherals (PWM ADCs bootloaders serial interfaces)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols: CAN Ethernet RS-232/485
  • Experience in product development environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and multitasking ability
  • Customer-focused mindset
