As a Senior Landscape Architect youd be an experienced design professional who leads landscape and urban design work across project types helps shape creative and technical direction and collaborates with the firms architects planners and clients. Youd contribute to strategic and conceptual design while ensuring projects are delivered with excellence at all stages.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Project Delivery
Lead landscape architecture and place making design from concept through construction documentation and implementation.
Integrate landscape design with architectural urban and environmental strategies to create cohesive sustainable solutions.
Oversee site planning planting design grading environmental response and public realm enhancements.
Project & Team Management
Guide multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff in design development and technical execution.
Manage design workflows timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
Ensure high quality standards in presentations drawings specifications and construction documents.
Client & Consultant Engagement
Serve as a primary design contact for clients consultants and contractors throughout project phases.
Present design proposals explain design intent and respond to feedback in clear persuasive ways.
Help refine project scopes budgets and schedules with an emphasis on feasibility and design impact.
Sustainability & Contextual Response
Apply Pirie Associates commitment to sustainability wellbeing and ecological stewardship in all landscape design work.
Conduct site analysis understand environmental and cultural conditions and translate findings into design strategies.
Contribute to narrative-driven design that reflects the context community and purpose of each project.
Business Development Support
Participate in proposals and pitches; help develop compelling design responses for potential new clients.
Maintain and grow professional networks with local and regional planning agencies community groups and design partners.
Requirements
Qualification
Professional degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA/MLA or equivalent); advanced degrees a plus.
Significant professional experience (often 7 years or more) in landscape and urban design projects.
Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership on complex multi-layered landscape projects.
Proficiency in landscape design and documentation tools (AutoCAD Adobe Creative Suite GIS/3D tools).
Excellent presentation graphic communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to mentor junior staff and work collaboratively in a small studio environment.
