The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the Director General Real Property position. This position is full time on-site.
As the Director General Real Property you will provide senior executive leadership and strategic direction for the Long-Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) and all major real property programs supporting the modernization rehabilitation and stewardship of the Parliamentary Precinct. As the House of Commons Executive Architect and Senior Technical Authority you will ensure that architectural heritage conservation interior design and construction activitiesfrom planning to executionare effectively integrated aligned with parliamentary requirements and delivered within scope budget and schedule.
The role also oversees the management of a diverse real property portfolio of more than 30 buildings and grounds including the multi-year multi-billion-dollar Centre Block Rehabilitation Program and Block 2 redevelopment. As the Director General you will lead governance performance management and program frameworks; engage senior parliamentary stakeholders; represent the House in media and inter-institutional forums; and ensure that real property strategies investments and services support both current operational needs and long-term institutional sustainability.

Qualifications :
Education:
- A University degree in architecture;
- Registration and good standing as a licensed architect with a Canadian professional association.
Experiences:
- Considerable experience providing senior strategic leadership for large-scale complex architectural construction or real property programs including multi-billion-dollar capital or rehabilitation projects;
- Extensive experience leading and overseeing multi-disciplinary teams of architectural engineering heritage and project management specialists to deliver major projects from concept to close-out;
- Extensive experience developing and managing governance frameworks multi-year strategies and performance measurement programs for real property capital planning or construction programs;
- Considerable experience leading engagement and negotiations with senior institutional partners government departments (e.g. PSPC) consultants and other external stakeholders on complex technical and strategic issues;
- Extensive experience providing authoritative advice and recommendations to senior executives or elected officials on real property planning design heritage conservation or policy matters;
- Extensive experience managing financial human and material resources in a large operational or program environment.
Assets:
- Experience working within heritage parliamentary or similarly complex politically sensitive environments;
- Professional certification in project management (e.g. PMP).

Experience levels are typically defined as follows:
- Considerable experience generally 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience generally 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
