Job Description
The Director Access Strategy and Payer Negotiations is a leadership role responsible for defining and implementing market access and negotiations strategy across multiple therapeutic areas. Reporting to the Senior Director Market Access and Pricing the Director will provide day to day support to Market Access team as they develop and execute the pre-launch pricing HTA and negotiation strategies across a broad portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Leads a team of Market Access Associate Directors and is ultimately accountable for payer strategic planning to support value and access optimization
Supports the development of Market Access strategies and core pricing & access deliverables operating within the Global Commercial model
Acts as a negotiator in pan- Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance negotiations
Ensures the payer position is consistently represented to internal cross-functional stakeholders and ensures robust strategic input into commercialization and development decisions
Partners with HEOR and Marketing to ensure robust value proposition and integrated evidence plans are optimized to support global market access and reimbursement
Supports strategies with deep functional knowledge in-depth market research environmental data & analogues
Informs financial forecasts
Works on the execution of pricing and access strategy including the localization of access strategy tactical execution and pricing business cases
Supports capability building and thought leadership projects that advance knowledge of and readiness for the rapidly evolving payer environment
Collaborates closely with HEOR Government Affairs and Public Policy Medical Marketing and Clinical Development counterparts to ensure value and access optimization
As a people manager within the organization may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.
Key Requirements:
Ability to think strategically and make sound pricing and market access recommendations
Significant experience leading complex pharmaceutical negotiations
Strong practical quantitative and analytical skills combined with a sound understanding of how to successfully apply pricing & reimbursement / HEOR principles to support Vertex
Outstanding written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively write and deliver presentations to professionals at all levels within Vertex
Relationship building at all levels of the organization and across geographies
Excellent interpersonal skills to influence others internally/externally including across departments
Bachelors Degree and/ or Masters.
This position is Hybrid based in Toronto.
