Job Summary

We seek to hire an ambitious collegial and productive academic with proven research and teaching abilities in the broad area of International Business (IB).

We are particularly interested in appointing an IB scholar with interests and capabilities in SME internationalisation including the internationalisation of firms from small open economies the scaling of entrepreneurial ventures and digitalisation and its relationship to internationalisation strategies and processes.

Candidates at the Lecturer level should demonstrate the potential to publish in top journals in International Business and related disciplines and candidates at the Senior Lecturer level should have already published in such outlets and have developed a portfolio of publications including some in top-tier journals.

It is essential that candidates can teach across IB and other related disciplines and it is desirable that they have the potential to teach executive or MBA-oriented learners. We value candidates whose teaching integrates research in ways that engage and equip students to tackle complex strategic challenges. Teaching capabilities are expected to align with the University of Aucklands TeachWell framework and preference may be given to an academic with proven ability to adopt innovative pedagogies and to use a variety of teaching methods. 

This is a full time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation).

The remuneration for this position is $99788 - $158904 per annum depending on the academic level of appointment.

Our ideal candidate will be a team player who will support the Department and more specifically the International Business Disciplinary Area in a wide range of scholarly activities and will have strong communication skills and will be able to articulate your plans and qualified with a PhD degree in International Business (or a closely related discipline) our ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience: 

  • Potential (L) or proven track record (SL) in successfully delivering IB undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a business school
  • Potential (L) or proven (SL) publication track record in top-ranked IB journals (e.g. Australian Business Deans Council A* or A-ranked or ABS 4* 4 or 3-point journals)
  • Potential (L) or proven (SL) track record attracting funding from both internal and external reputable funding schemes
  • Potential (L) or proven (SL) track record in designing curriculum (part or entire course/programme)
  • Potential (L) or proven (SL) track record in successfully supervising graduate students research in International Business (PhDs and Masters)
