Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects focused on moving structures such as bridges gates lifting mechanisms or other large-scale motion-enabled infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise across mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines sound commercial awareness and a proven track record managing projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead endtoend delivery of M&E engineering projects involving moving structures ensuring scope schedule cost and quality targets are met.
  • Oversee design manufacture installation commissioning and handover activities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical electrical controls hydraulic specialists).
  • Manage project budgets forecasts change control and commercial risk.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation programme plans and progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements including early warnings compensation events and risk registers.
  • Conduct technical reviews ensuring engineering solutions meet performance safety and regulatory standards.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for clients stakeholders contractors and suppliers.
  • Lead project meetings technical workshops and site coordination activities.
  • Promote and maintain strong H&S cultureincluding safe systems of work RAMS and CDM compliance.
  • Oversee FATs SATs commissioning and integration of mechanical electrical hydraulic and control systems.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant demonstrable experience delivering engineering projects in M&E or multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong technical background in:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulics
    • Control and automation systems
  • Experience delivering projects involving moving structures (e.g. bridges locks gates heavy lifting equipment machinery).
  • Proven experience delivering projects under NEC contracts.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and technical reports.
  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering site and subcontractor teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechatronics or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professional registration (CEng IEng or working towards) is advantageous.
  • Project management accreditation (APM PRINCE2 or equivalent) preferred.
