Job Summary

    About This Opportunity

    In 2023 the UQ Medical School established eight geographically based Learning Communities four of which are part of the Greater Brisbane Clinical School. These Learning Communities bring together students academics clinical teachers and professional staff to create a supportive environment where students learn from each other and are guided to flourish throughout the MD program.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Focussed (TF) Senior Lecturer to expand their impact in clinical education through leadership at the program discipline or broader faculty level. The successful candidate will coordinate and lead the activities of academic and clinical staff in alignment with UQ values fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. They will maintain an active role in internal and external collaborations that support the development of colleagues with demonstrated evidence of increasing influence on teaching practices policies and educational knowledge.

    The successful candidate is expected to commence in the role on 1 June 2026.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Act as an effective and professional role model providing high-quality academic leadership for Year 3 and 4 learning experiences assessment student support and clinical teaching to foster professional identity knowledge and skills.

    • Serve as an educational advisor and clinical coach contributing to program coordination clinical immersion experiences tutorials staff development and monitoring of student progress.

    • Undertake and lead research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning applying best-practice methodologies producing high-quality outputs seeking funding and fostering strategic collaborations to advance pedagogical practice.

    • Provide supervision coaching and professional development for students trainees and staff while managing teams effectively in accordance with university policies and contributing to continuous improvement of learning quality and engagement.

    About You

    • Medical qualification with eligibility for registration in Australia and a specialist qualification recognised by the relevant Royal College plus a PhD or equivalent combination of academic and professional experience.

    • Established profile and substantial senior contribution in clinical teaching across undergraduate postgraduate and professional entry levels.

    • Expert disciplinary knowledge and extensive generalist or specialist clinical experience including dissemination of innovative clinical techniques.

    • Record of peer-reviewed publications conference presentations and contribution to successful applications for external research funding.

    • Strong track record in curriculum development program innovation and course material design within the discipline.

    • Demonstrated leadership and service through supervision of trainees internal contributions and external professional engagement within the specialty.

    Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks which may include verification of the right to work in Australia qualifications professional registration (AHPRA) and mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
