Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for two Senior Student Recruitment Advisers to join the Future Students Directorate on a fixed-term basis. One adviser will fill a 12-month part-time (0.5 FTE) position while the other will be in a full-time role until 18 December 2026.

This is a strategic Future Studentsled role responsible for shaping and delivering targeted recruitment activity in partnership with an allocated Faculty. The role focuses on building sustained recruitment initiatives strengthening subject-level engagement and ensuring Faculty participation in recruitment activity is intentional aligned and effective.

Working at the intersection of recruitment strategy and academic expertise you will apply insight enrolment data and professional judgement to prioritise engagement and ensure recruitment resource is deployed where it will add the greatest value. You will lead the coordination of Faculty involvement in recruitment activity provide clear direction on recruitment priorities and positioning and contribute to the ongoing review and refinement of recruitment approaches over time.

This role plays an important part in supporting consistent high-quality recruitment outcomes and advancing a coordinated strategy-led approach across Future Students and Faculties.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver sustained targeted recruitment initiatives aligned to agreed Faculty and University priorities.
  • Use insight enrolment data and feedback to inform engagement decisions and prioritise activity.
  • Lead and coordinate Faculty representation at recruitment events ensuring messaging and participation are purposeful and well-briefed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with academic staff subject teachers and key external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and review recruitment activity contributing to collective evaluation and continuous improvement across the team.

You will be an experienced recruitment or engagement professional who is confident operating in a collaborative strategy-led environment. You are comfortable applying judgement working with autonomy and building credibility with academic stakeholders while maintaining clear alignment to organisational priorities.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in student recruitment marketing engagement or a related tertiary or public sector environment.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality events or engagement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical capability and confidence using data and insight to guide priorities and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience engaging diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
