Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Data AI and Law in the Faculty of Law (Ref.: 534376) to commence on July 1 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract. Suitably qualified applicants may be considered for direct tenure.
The Faculty of Law is the longest-established law school in Hong Kong. It plays a leading role in legal education in Hong Kong and Asiathrough its various undergraduate research postgraduate and taught postgraduate programmes covering a wide range of legal subject areas. It is the largest and oldest legal research and law teaching institution in Hong Kong currently consisting of over 80 teaching members and over 2500 undergraduate and postgraduate students
Applicants should normally have a first degree in Law (e.g. LLB BA(Jurisprudence) and JD) and an additional postgraduate degree in Law (e.g. LLM PhD D Phil and SJD). Those who do not have an additional postgraduate degree in Law are also encouraged to apply if there is evidence of a strong publication record and relevant experience in teaching legal practice or the judiciary or if they possess a postgraduate degree in a non-law discipline. Applicants for Associate Professorship should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. Applicants for Assistant Professorship should be academically strong and demonstrate potential for excellence as teachers and researchers.
The appointee will be expected to make a significant contribution to the Facultys research profile by producing high-quality research and actively participating in research communities. He/she will also be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of teaching in the Facultys undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
