Applications are invited for appointment asResearch Assistant Professor (RAP) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health(Ref.: 534446) to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D. . Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in biostatistics epidemiology public health or a related should demonstrate (i) evidence of international recognition and scholarship; (ii) the ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives; (iii) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publications and external grants; and (iv) a strong commitment to engage students in inquiry-based learning at postgraduate work experience in infectious disease epidemiology and an excellent record of publications and grants would be advantages.
The appointee will conduct epidemiological research with a focus on generating data on COVID-19/influenza epidemiology and control to support evidence-based will develop research programmes independently; write scientific publications grant proposals and reports. He/She will teach public health courses relevant to infectious diseases epidemiology and biostatistics; supervise junior research staff and students; and assist in administrative operational and other duties as assigned. At current rates salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
