Primary Purpose:
Supervises trains and manages campus food service operation. Ensures that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served. Follows federal state and local rules and regulations for operating the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Food Manager Certification
TASN and/or SNA Membership Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of methods materials equipment and appliances used in food preparation
Ability to manage personnel
Effective planning and organizational skills
Experience:
Minimum of two years experience in managing a school food service operation
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages work schedules and production records.
- Directs daily activities in kitchen and cafeteria.
- Serves all food items according to menu specifications defined by departmental procedures and in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Works cooperatively with campus principal to accommodate temporary schedule changes and/or any special serving requirements.
- Supervises and trains employees at campus level promoting efficiency and teamwork.
- Ensures that food is produced safely and is of high quality according to HACCP guidelines.
- Completes daily deposit and corresponding reports in POS.
- Maintains and submits accurate information for payroll reporting.
- Places orders for food and supplies ensuring that proper quantities of food and supplies are available to meet menu requirements.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Conducts monthly inventories.
- Reports problems with equipment through the HEAT ticket system.
- Manages employee conflict and handles employee discipline.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
