SUMMARY
Facilitates communication between deaf and hard of hearing students and their hearing peers teachers and others through interpreting and transliterating voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree
Minimum score of 3.5 on Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
Knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation Signed English fingerspelling and/or other modes of communication with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students and adults.
Basic knowledge of child development and language development.
Familiarity with deaf culture and cultural diversity.
Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree or higher
National Interpreter Certification (NIC) Certified Advanced or Master
Previous experience working with youth or adults in educational interpreting and/or tutoring.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization.
Valid Drivers license (Arizona Drivers License required within 30 days of hire)
MVReport showing no more than the allowable points against Drivers License as described underGoverning Board Policy: EEB-R-1Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliancegreater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insuranceas described underGoverning Board Policy: EEB-R-1Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
