Job Summary

JOB GOAL:
To aid and support assigned teachers and other certified personnel in implementing the instructional program and support services while providing targeted academic and behavioral support to help all students succeed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (184 days)
  • Table 803 Grade plus benefits package
  • Placement within the salary range will be determined by experience
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma with at least 60 college hours or an Associate Degree or passing score on the ParaPro Praxis Exam
  • Demonstrates competence in assigned responsibilities
  • Typing ability preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff students and families
  • Commitment to confidentiality of student and school records
  • Dedication to equitable high-quality education in a diverse setting
  • Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent or required by the Board

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements describe the general nature of work performed. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Instructional Support

  • Provide targeted academic and behavioral support across the school.
  • Assist in the implementation of WIN (What I Need) time supporting differentiated learning.
  • Facilitate small group instruction under teacher guidance.
  • Deliver pull-out interventions for both academic and behavioral needs.
  • Reinforce instructional activities as prescribed by teachers.
  • Assist in preparing lesson materials and instructional resources.
  • Learn and understand curriculum content in the classes supported.

Student Support & Monitoring

  • Support progress monitoring efforts through data collection and documentation.
  • Provide individualized assistance to students needing extra attention.
  • Implement behavior management techniques in alignment with school PBIS expectations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure all students receive appropriate resources and guidance.

School & Classroom Support

  • Assist with classroom organization and maintenance.
  • Support non-instructional duties such as lunchroom recess and bus supervision.
  • Participate in professional learning staff meetings and other school activities.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all student and staff interactions.
  • Complete daily work schedules and perform additional duties as assigned.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk climb stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This position requires:

  • Accurate perception of sound
  • Near and far vision depth perception
  • Handling and working with educational materials/objects
  • Clear verbal communication
  • The employee must be physically present during contracted work hours with only infrequent excused absences. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
