The Software Engineer for EDS is a specialized frontend builder focused on quality and precision. You will work within the core engineering team to build the Lego blocks of our design system. Specializing in Lit (Web Components) you will translate design specifications into clean reusable code that functions seamlessly across React and Angular environments. You are a detail-oriented developer who cares deeply about semantic HTML pixel-perfect CSS and writing code that is easy for other developers to use.

It serves as a comprehensive library of reusable UI components design patterns and accessibility standards that bridge the critical gap between User Experience (UX) and Engineering. By fostering a philosophy of reduce reuse and recycle EDS enables hundreds of product teams to eliminate redundant coding and design work. We provide the foundational building blocks that ensure our clinical and operational applications are intuitive consistent and accessible allowing teams to focus on patient safety.
The Mission: Scale and Empowerment
We are in a phase of hyper-growth scaling from 15 adopting products to over 100. This requires a leader who thinks like a founder. You must look beyond simple backlog management to think about scale growth and empowerment. You will build a self-service ecosystem that allows teams to move fast without breaking the consistent standards required for patient safety and accessibility.
Core Responsibilities
1. Component Development & Implementation
- Web Component Construction: Build robust encapsulated UI components using the Lit library. You are responsible for writing semantic HTML5 and scalable SASS/CSS to ensure components are lightweight and render correctly.
- Cross-Framework Compatibility: Implement wrapper logic to ensure your Web Components behave natively within React and Angular applications. You will troubleshoot and resolve integration issues related to event handling and property binding.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: You are responsible for the long-term health of your code. You will troubleshoot and resolve UI-related defects in both development and production environments ensuring high reliability for our adopting teams.
2. Design Fidelity & Execution
- Figma to Code: Use Figmas Dev Mode to inspect designs and implement them with high fidelity. You are responsible for ensuring that margins padding typography and colors match the design specs exactly.
- Accessibility Implementation: Build inclusivity into every line of code. You ensure that components meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards by correctly implementing ARIA labels keyboard focus states and screen reader support.
3. Agile Delivery & Quality Assurance
- Agile Participation: Actively participate in Sprint Planning Standups and Retrospectives. You will track your tasks and user stories in Rally ensuring accurate updates and timely completion.
- Code Reviews: Participate actively in peer code reviews. You will review your colleagues pull requests to ensure they meet our coding standards helping to maintain a high bar for engineering quality across the team.
- Testing & Documentation: Write Unit Tests (using ViTest or Jest) to validate your code. You also contribute to Storybook creating clear examples and documentation to help other developers understand how to use your components.
Qualifications
- Experience: 35 years of experience in front-end development.
- Mandatory: Experience working on Enterprise Software or complex web applications.
- UX Collaboration: Mandatory: 3 years of experience working with UX Designers. You must demonstrate the ability to translate Figma designs into code with high precision.
- Technical Stack:
- Mandatory: Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6) and TypeScript.
- Mandatory: Deep understanding of HTML5 CSS3 and SASS.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with Lit or native Web Components.
- Agile & Process:
- Mandatory: Proficiency working in Agile environments and managing work in Rally (or similar tools).
- Experience writing Unit Tests and technical documentation (Storybook).
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field.

For U.S. based positions only the pay range for this position is $98560.00-$147840.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills qualifications experience and addition this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
