Job Summary

JOBTITLE:Early Childhood Blended Instructional Aide

DEPARTMENT:Assigned Campus

PRIMARY PURPOSE:Assist the classroom teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs including self-help personal care needs behavior management and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to work well with children
Proficient communication skills
Ability to operate computer using a variety of basic applications
Knowledge of general office equipment
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for students in inclusive settings
Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
Assist in supervising students throughout the school day both inside and outside the classroom
Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays Early Childhood Blended Instructional Aide
Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
Assist in inventory care and maintenance of classroom equipment
Participate in staff development training programs faculty meetings and special events as required
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
Assist special needs students with individual tasks as may be required but not limit to transferring to and from wheelchairs lifting positioning feeding bathroom needs and personal hygiene
Assist students with activities of personal care which can including diapering toileting and/ordressing
Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention
Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each students special medical physical communicative emotional and/or safety needs through training and/or teacher direction
Any other duties as assigned by Campus Principal.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Safety:Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidences immediately to the supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
