Position OverviewThe Weston Public Schools are looking to hire an Early Literacy Interventionist for a Long-term Substitute assignment at Woodland Elementary School beginning immediately and continuing until the regular Interventionist returns to work (return date TBD). This role is for 26.5 hours per week when school is in session reporting to the Building Principal. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate equip and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community.
About the Weston Public SchoolsThe Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12 a middle school for grades 6-8 an upper elementary school for grades 4-5 and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967 Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary desegregation program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 166 students (K-12).
Key Responsibilities- Provide targeted literacy interventions to small groups of kindergarten - grade 3 students
- Complete all required documentation and data collection
- Collaborate with teachers and curriculum coordinators to identify students needs and set/monitor learning targets
- Assist teachers in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding individual student needs interests and abilities
- Other Duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications- Bachelors degree
- Experience working with school-aged students ideally in a diverse public school
- Experience working with literacy instruction
- Competent with technology including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Compensation and BenefitsThe Early Literacy Interventionists will be paid $36.35 per hour. This is a temporary assignment and not eligible for employee benefits.
