SUMMARY:
Peacemakers Club President is a leadership position within the Student Organizations & Programs (SOP) Department housed in the Office of Student Engagement (OSE). They report directly to the Associate Director of Student Engagement for the entire upcoming academic year (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026).
Their duty is to ensure a community is built amongst the multicultural and monocultural students at the university to create a welcoming environment for students who want to learn about and grow in their awareness of cultural identity racial justice and how their faith informs their pursuits of Christ-like addition this position supports building a meaningful community while pursuing the betterment of the human condition through engagement with social causes. Peacemakers is dedicated to building relationships and serving the campus together. The Peacemakers President does NOT need any prior Student Leadership experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Attend SOP Staff Meetings and OSE Student Leader Practicums
Plan shop execute and clean up Peacemaking events & meetings
Put on SOP Welcome Program (Aug) Compassion in Action Retreat (Nov) Native American Honor Chapel with SFD (Nov) Native American Lunch & Learn (Nov) SOP Senior Celebrations (April)
Collect attendance data & program feedback for reports (Culture of Evidence)
Create marketing hanging and removing fliers and posting marketing on social media account
Upkeep physical spaces: SOP Storage Closet The Forrest Room and the OSE Office
Upkeep digital spaces: Photo Library Attendance Sheets SOP Student Leader Manual etc.
Assist other OSE Programs - Opportunities to Serve
Other tasks assigned

On a Semester Basis:
Enrolling in the Leadership Practicum (PLST 460) course requirement each semester - one (1) unit
o Mondays 10:00-10:50am
ACADEMIC & CITIZENSHIP STANDARDS:
Be an openly committed Christian and have an active faith in Jesus Christ.
Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Be in good financial standing with the university.
May not be on disciplinary academic or chapel probation (must exhibit consistency in required chapel attendance).
Prioritize student leadership position over extracurricular activities in consultation with your supervisor.
Understand accept and support the assumptions goals and objectives of Vanguard University as outlines in the Catalog and Student Handbook.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Current student enrolled at Vanguard University in good standing.
Vibrant belief in Jesus Christ with ample evidence of personal discipleship.
Maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 each term.
Interested (or experienced) in organization administrative work or event planning.
Interested (or experienced) in community building and leadership development.
Demonstrated commitment as a team player to support and collaborate with faculty staff peers and external constituents as well as the initiative and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that will result in effective collaboration.
COMPENSATION:
This position is 10 hours per week through a $1162.50 stipend over 1 semester.
