About the White River State Park:
White River State Park has 250 acres of cultural experiences and outdoor event space in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. The park is home to Everwise Amphitheater IMAX Theater Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art NCAA Hall of Champions Indianapolis Zoo and Victory Field. Widely hailed as the best urban park in the country White River State Park hosts world-class concerts arts exhibits sporting events zoological exhibitions and several meetings and special events throughout the year.
Role Overview:
This position serves as the Event Staff for White River State Park (WRSP). The incumbent will work with the events team on the execution of park events. This person will interact frequently with park goers. The candidate selected will have a passion for White River State Park a desire to grow their career in tourism events and/or community outreach.
This position requires approximately 25 hours of work per week.
Hourly Rate Statement:
The hourly rate for this position is $18.00/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Essential Functions White River State Park Event Staff:
- Be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable ambassador for White River State Park.
- Work with event teams vendors and event planners in load-in and load-out of events.
- Attend planning meetings with events team
- Works with Live Nation Sales Manager and event planners to successfully attract and execute third-party rentals in the park.
- Serve as on-site event liaison for third-party rentals. Ability to work morning nights and weekends as event calendar warrants.
- Work with Community Outreach & Event Coordinator with execution of WRSP in-house community events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Position requires a high school diploma. Preference will be given to those pursuing a degree in event management or related fields.
- Unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness.
- Superior time management skills and the willingness to work early morning late evening weekend or holiday shift.
- Ability to work independently at times and be self-motivated.
- Ability to work outdoors with occasional physical exertion.
- Strong written and oral communications; position requires frequent interactions with park visitors commissioners and state government leaders.
- Familiarity with White River State Park.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex challenges.
- Flexibility to adjust work functions as events warrant.
- Must be trustworthy and able to keep confidential information.
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
