THE POSITION:

Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Assistant Stewarding Supervisor with our Culinary team.

Reporting to the Stewarding Manager the Stewarding Supervisor supports a safe efficient and positive work environment by guiding team members and reinforcing departmental expectations. This role provides oversight and support during the daily operations of each shift to help maintain consistency and service standards. It fosters a respectful inclusive and service-oriented work environment through ongoing support coaching and collaboration. Flexibility is essential as scheduling depends on events and operational needs.

Responsibilities

THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:

  • Collaborate closely with the Stewarding Manager to remain aligned on operational priorities and departmental activities.
  • Assign work to stewarding employees ensuring work is completed efficiently and according to organizational standards.
  • Support the flow of work by providing resources resolving barriers and engaging directly when needed.
  • Coordinate and support the cleaning and sanitizing of tools equipment and designated food and beverage areas ensuring work is completed effectively and in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Ensure proper sorting and removal of compost recyclables and garbage according to organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the culinary team as needed with meal services by facilitating the set-up of designated equipment and coordinating the support of other relevant tasks.
  • Remain attentive to evolving event needs ensuring work is completed promptly while considering the broader event environment and sensitivities throughout the venue.
  • Provide coverage and coordinate break schedules adapting to changing operational demands.
  • Support the team in responding to guest requests with a service-first mindset ensuring all guest needs or changes are communicated promptly to the appropriate leader.
  • Coordinate and support the safe use transportation and maintenance of equipment and tools ensuring operational standards are followed and any issues or repair needs are reported promptly.
  • Reinforce inventory management standards by monitoring supplies and storage reporting damages and low inventory to the appropriate leader.
  • Lead by example and support consistent communication collaboration and organizational values within the team.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct helping to reinforce reliability readiness to work and adherence to personal hygiene and grooming standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Leadership:

  • Support performance and behavior standards through coaching and recognition escalating concerns when appropriate.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives by participating in team discussions and sharing feedback to support team growth and department strategy.
  • Support recruitment efforts by participating in key processes as requested to maintain team strength and readiness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective service delivery and positive working relationships.
  • Support team alignment by leading meetings and providing relevant information to the team in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Apply organizational policies and Collective Agreements equitably escalating complex matters appropriately.

Administration:

  • Contribute to administrative processes by completing assigned work accurately and on time.
  • Support employee documentation and lifecycle processes by submitting required documents in a timely way.
  • Assist with scheduling ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained throughout the shift according to operational requirements.
  • daily payroll submission and time tracking reporting discrepancies to the appropriate leader.
  • Prepare and generate reports as needed to support operational decision-making and performance tracking.

Training & Development:

  • Obtain and maintain all certifications required by the organization and applicable regulations to support operational readiness and compliance.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to support ongoing development and adaptability to operational needs.
  • Support continuous improvement by adopting new methods technologies and practices to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Contribute thoughtfully to team discussions training opportunities and departmental initiatives to support a collaborative and effective work environment.
  • Support the onboarding of new team members by sharing essential practical knowledge and assisting the Stewarding Manager with initial training.
  • Facilitate the development of team members by acting as a mentor demonstrating techniques and offering informal guidance during daily kitchen operations.

Health & Safety:

  • Promote and reinforce compliance with all departmental standards guidelines and procedures to ensure the safety of oneself team members and guests.
  • Report safety hazards near misses and incidents promptly taking appropriate action to address hazards when safe and actively participating in the investigation process.
  • Wear use and ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required reporting any violations or damaged PPE within the team or onsite.

What youll need

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Basic math skills required.
    • Ability to use Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook is required.
  • 1 years of experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
