The Social Worker will play a crucial role within the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) focusing on the screening and response to new referrals in childrens social care. This position is vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to children young people and their families. As the Single Point of Access (SPA) Social Worker you will manage the SPA by screening and gathering information on referrals communicating effectively with parents and professionals and making informed recommendations. You will also handle safeguarding calls provide initial risk assessments and respond to information requests in compliance with the Data Protection Act. Supervision and professional development support will be provided by the Team Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Screen and respond to new referrals in childrens social care.
- Support the SPA in managing and gathering information on referrals.
- Communicate effectively with parents professionals and during face-to-face consultations.
- Analyze gathered information and make referral recommendations with SPA Managements approval.
- Respond to safeguarding calls and provide initial risk assessments.
- Handle information requests from external professionals in line with the Data Protection Act.
- Participate in monthly supervision and continuous professional development.

Qualifications:
- Degree in social work with a relevant professional qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification in social work leadership or management.
- Active registration with Social Work England and evidence of ongoing professional development.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge and application of social work practices.
- Understanding of relevant theories informing practice delivery.
- Experience in building partnerships and co-producing solutions with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to use data and evidence to inform decision-making.
- Experience in maintaining records and producing reports for various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of statutory legislation and national policy affecting childrens services.
- Experience in short-term work to meet needs and prevent long-term social work involvement.
- Addressing equality or diversity issues in practice.
Personal Attributes:
- Passion for supporting children and young people to achieve safe happy and successful lives.
- Proficiency in digital tools like Microsoft or Google software.
- Strong organizational skills including time management and problem-solving.
