Job Summary

3 Month Contract With A Local Authority


Job Purpose

The Senior Social Worker will provide expert assessment planning and intervention for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure individuals receive high-quality person-centered care that promotes independence wellbeing and social inclusion. The role involves supervising and mentoring junior staff contributing to service development and liaising with internal and external partners to ensure effective safeguarding and support.





Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of adults with learning disabilities and autism identifying needs risks and strengths.

  • Develop implement and review care plans in collaboration with individuals families carers and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex cases to colleagues and partner agencies.

  • Lead safeguarding investigations and ensure adherence to legal and policy frameworks including the Care Act 2014.

  • Advocate for service users rights and promote social inclusion independence and quality of life.

  • Supervise mentor and support junior social workers and support staff fostering professional development.

  • Liaise with health education housing and voluntary sector partners to coordinate integrated support.

  • Maintain accurate timely and confidential records in line with professional and organizational standards.

  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of services for adults with learning disabilities and autism.

  • Promote evidence-based practice and continuous improvement within the team.



Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker (CQSW DipSW or equivalent) with current HCPC registration.

  • Extensive experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding mental capacity and relevant legislation.

  • Excellent communication assessment and risk management skills.

  • Leadership experience including mentoring and supporting junior staff.

  • Ability to work independently manage complex cases and make informed decisions.

  • Commitment to promoting equality diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work
