Job Summary

Position Title:Homebrew Program Supervisor
Rate of Pay: $22.75 (based on experience and qualifications)
Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Competitive Programs Supervisor the Homebrew Program Coordinator will supervise and coordinate all aspects of the Homebrew Competition for the annual OC Fair. This position plays a key role in program planning logistics community outreach and customer service to ensure a successful and engaging competition experience for exhibitors judges and the public.
Work Schedule:
January - April:Part-time hours Select weekdays
June - September: Full-time hours Must be available to work irregular business hours and weekends
October - December:Part-time hours Select weekdays
Essential Functions:
  • Perform administrative duties such as training and hiring of 122-day employees managing departmental communications ordering supplies maintaining program calendars and supporting operational needs throughout the competition cycle.
  • Lead and guide department employees to complete assigned tasks in the implementation of the Homebrew program.
  • Assist in developing and preparing the Homebrew Competition Guide and related materials to ensure accuracy clarity and alignment with departmental goals.
  • Secure schedule and coordinate all judges and judging activities including distributing judging materials and ensuring alignment to competition procedures.
  • Oversee entry delivery exhibit setup and display and post-event tear-down including preparing packing and storing program materials to ensure all event operations are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and organize administrative paperwork documentation and materials required for logistical needs prior to Homebrew program events.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners judges vendors and collaborating organizations to support successful implementation of the Homebrewing program.
  • Maintain files receipts and records specific to job duties and/or projects.
  • Support the department supervisor by assisting with purchasing requests and tracking supplies for the Homebrewing program.
  • Collaborate closely with OC Fair & Event Center (OCFEC) Exhibits & Education supervisors and staff to ensure the Homebrew program aligns with established timelines and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison to the community by conducting outreach to the community and encourage participation in the Homebrew competition and demonstrations.
  • Coordinate with OCFEC Communications and/or Marketing staff to promote the Homebrew competition.
  • Address employee relations issues related to employee behavior and performance and provide guidance for improvement.
  • Provide excellent customer service by professionally interacting with exhibitors judges and the public to support a positive program experience.
  • Address and resolve complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Evaluate program operations and recommend improvements to enhance the Homebrew competition and/or other competitions within the Exhibits department.
  • Attend required staff meetings to stay informed of departmental updates timelines and operational procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of competitive programming or a related field.
  • Experience supervising employees effectively in a team setting creating a positive work environment.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Experience working with a variety of individuals and groups with varied interests backgrounds expertise and abilities.
  • Excellent skills using MS Word Excel PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organization and customer service skills to handle and resolve customer issues.
  • Ability to remain enthusiastic and professional while handling occasional stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
  • Must be available to work part-time from January through December with increased work hours from April through August.
  • Must be able to work the 23 days of the annual OC Fair (Wednesday-Sunday) and entry delivery days (pre-fair).
Preferences:
  • Valid California Drivers license

Work Environment:
Will work in a fast-paced indoor and outdoor environment with frequent interruptions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet however louder noise levels may be experienced during outdoor events and when in larger event buildings.
