DescriptionTheSupervisor Environmental Health and Safetywill be responsible for providing day-to-day EHS leadership in planning and implementing best practices to protect employees customers and the environment.
This position will serve our US Air Division located inFort Smith Arkansas.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the day-to-day EHS operation of the facility while enabling plant production requirements and ensuring all applicable federal state and local regulations and standards are met.
- Maintains company programs to prevent on-the-job injuries and illnesses.
- Works closely with the operations teams to implement ergonomically sound and safety conscience production lines and process changes.
- Leads accident investigations in collaboration with managers/supervisors to uncover root causes and implement corrective actions; follows up on corrective actions to ensure hazards are mitigated.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal State and Local Government Regulations concerning OSHA and EPA including permits and certifications.
- Site contact for all Federal State and Local regulatory agencies such as OSHA EPA ADEM.
- Responsible for internal records on employee safety and health environmental industrial hygiene and medical center transactions.
- Acts as the Fort Smith Plant Emergency Response Coordinator as well as directs and monitors Emergency Management plans.
- Oversees the administration of workers compensation program including working with the insurance carrier nurse case managers and other appropriate staff.
- Leads employee committee involvement as it pertains to safety health ergonomic industrial hygiene and environmental programs. Conducts monthly safety meetings and audits.
- Manages company resources and budgets as it pertains to safety health ergonomic industrial hygiene and environmental programs.
- Maintains safety files records to include MSDS information.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Industrial Hygiene Occupational and Environmental Health Science engineering or related field from four-year college or university or equivalent education
- Minimum 2-3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment required and 1 or more years of experience supervising others
- Prefer someone who has high volume steel/metal manufacturing fabrication experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of governmental program requirements regarding OSHA EPA ADEM NFPA NEC and others
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to get on the floor identify and analyze problems develop solutions and execute corrective actions
- Must be a team player and have the ability to work in a team environment
- Effective oral and written communication skills including public presentation ability
- Proficient in computer skills (Word Excel and Power Point)
- Self-motivated with little or no supervision
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts fumes and airborne particles risk of electrical shock and vibration. Frequent activity such as walking stooping and bending is required.
Will be required to travel as business demands.
