Primary Purpose:
Supervises trains and manages campus food service operation. Ensures that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served. Follows federal state and local rules and regulations for operating the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Food Manager Certification
TASN and/or SNA Membership Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of methods materials equipment and appliances used in food preparation
Ability to manage personnel
Effective planning and organizational skills
Experience:
Minimum of two years experience in managing a school food service operation
Key Responsibilities:
- Produces and maintains work schedules and production records.
- Directs daily activities in kitchen and cafeteria.
- Maintains all serving schedules and serves all food items according to menu specifications defined by departmental policies and procedures.
- Works cooperatively with campus principal to accommodate temporary schedule changes special serving requirements and to resolve personnel problems.
- Supervises and trains employees at campus level promoting efficiency morale and teamwork.
- Ensures that food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies procedures and department requirements.
- Maintains accurate reports of daily and monthly financial production and activity records.
- Maintains and submits accurate information for payroll reporting.
- Ensures that food items are stored in safe and hazard-free environment.
- Establishes and enforces standards of cleanliness health and safety following health and safety codes and regulations.
- Maintains safe work environment.
- Ensures that appropriate quantities of food and supplies are available through daily orders and periodic inventories.
- Performs preventive maintenance and reports needed equipment repairs.
- Recommends replacement of existing equipment to meet department needs.
- Helps train cafeteria workers and makes sound recommendations about the assignment discipline and retention of cafeteria personnel.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands:Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
