A leading not-for-profit mission-driven health system serving communities across the Western United States is seeking a Director of Planned Giving to lead and grow a comprehensive estate and gift planning program.

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer the Director of Planned Giving will provide strategic and operational leadership for a sophisticated planned giving program. This leader will manage all aspects of estate and life-income gifts cultivate high-capacity donors and ensure compliance with applicable legal and tax regulations related to charitable giving.
This role blends strategy relationship management technical expertise and mission-driven leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive planned giving strategy with measurable short- and long-term goals
Identify cultivate solicit and steward major and planned gift prospects
Design individualized solicitation strategies for high-capacity donors
Provide guidance on bequests life-income gifts and other estate planning vehicles in collaboration with donor advisors
Draft and review gift illustrations and legal documentation
Track estate gifts from probate to completion and ensure audit integrity
Partner cross-functionally with Foundation and leadership teams
Educate and engage attorneys estate planners financial advisors and community stakeholders
Lead recognition society efforts and planned giving communications
Mitigate legal and reputational risk through strong governance and systems
Ideal Background
Bachelors degree required; advanced degree (JD Accounting Financial Planning) strongly preferred
8 years of progressive experience in planned giving within a large nonprofit environment
Demonstrated success closing major and estate gifts
Deep knowledge of taxation trusts and estates probate real estate and charitable gift structures
Leadership experience in complex matrixed organizations
CFRE and/or CSPG preferred
