About the role

AEMOs Operations Transformation team sits within our Operations Division which is responsible for the safe secure and prudent operation of energy systems and markets across Australia including the National Electricity Market (NEM) Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Declared Wholesale Gas Market (DWGM) Short Term Trading Market (STTM) and retail markets in both electricity and gas.

In this newly created role you will act as a trusted partner and point of connection between our Operations and Digital divisions supporting effective collaboration shared understanding and alignment of Digital service outcomes with operational needs. You will leverage your extensive experience in Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) to build stronger alignment of service delivery outcomes.

The role can be based in any AEMO office.

What you will be doing

  • Support Digital Service Operations during incidents and problems by providing operational context assisting with impact and risk assessment and facilitating coordinated input from Operations to enable timely resolution.
  • Support Digital Service Transition activities including IT change requests by helping identify impacted operational areas advising on operational risk considerations and supporting appropriate engagement and communication.
  • Collaborate with Customer & Digital Services to support the definition interpretation and reporting of service delivery metrics (e.g. incidents problems changes SLAs) ensuring operational perspectives are well represented and understood.
  • Foster strong constructive working relationships across Operations and Digital promoting shared accountability transparency and practical problem solving in support of safe and reliable market operations.
  • Work closely with the Operations Transformation & Reform Team to help develop and deliver operational change in a coordinated and managed way.

What you will bring to the role

  • Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications with a relevant context to energy systems and markets (e.g. engineering commerce)
  • Significant experience in the energy or related industry with a strong understanding of the physical operation of electricity and gas networks and the services delivered through markets that support them.
  • Demonstrated capability to work with Operations Technology and Information Technology services on highly complex deliverables and outcomes and ability to balance multiple factors such as cost risk and usability.
  • Good understanding of technology frameworks delivery and operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop negotiate and implement resolutions to complex commercial and regulatory models.
