Compensation: $24.90 - $26.10 Hourly

The Volunteer Relations Specialist is a key member of the Corporate and Community Engagement Team (CCET) within the Development Department. As one of the frontline representatives of Food Bank of the Rockies Volunteer Relations program this role supports a highvolume multisite volunteer operation engaging approximately 24000 volunteers each yearcontributing the equivalent of 68 fulltime employees and more than $5.5 million in annual impact.

Working in a fastpaced environment the Specialist helps create a welcoming missioncentered experience for all volunteers while coordinating daily operations supporting crossdepartmental needs and implementing improvements that enhance efficiency and engagement. Through highquality volunteer experience and strong internal and external relationships this role strengthens community connections and directly advances organizational goals.

The mission of Food Bank of the Rockies is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities: 70%

  • Serve as a primary frontline representative for the volunteer relations program handling volunteer inquiries and fostering strong relationships with volunteers staff and community partners
  • Serve as a member of the Welcome Team to greet and assist volunteers visitors and guests ensuring a warm professional and missionaligned first impression
  • Lead onsite volunteer relations by greeting and orienting volunteers facilitating a safe and productive shift environment making realtime decisions as needed and ensuring an engaging missioncentered volunteer experience from arrival through departure
  • Monitor and assess daily weekly and monthly volunteer needs coordinating volunteer assignments with internal departments including the Volunteer Center Order Selection Kitchen Dock Mobile Pantries and Programs among others
  • Serve as a point of contact for the Mobile Pantry Team regarding volunteer scheduling shift changes and dayof issues and collaborating with team members to identify and implement operational improvements
  • Manage scheduling communication and support for all volunteer types including individuals groups and courtordered volunteers
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in VolunteerHub ensuring data accuracy consistent reporting practices and workflow optimization
  • Create and update volunteer opportunities and group shifts in VolunteerHub manage rosters and attendance and adjust capacity or schedules in real time based on program needs
  • Generate VolunteerHub reports to support daily operations volunteer communications and departmental needs
  • Frequently collaborate with CCET to identify availability and fulfill highpriority or largescale volunteer requests for strategic partnerships and events
  • Troubleshoot volunteerrelated concerns enforce safety standards and escalate complex issues appropriately
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism ensuring the privacy and respect of volunteers staff partners donors or others


Support Functions: 25%

  • Assist in the creation distribution analysis and followup of volunteer surveys to support program evaluation
  • Contribute to updates of volunteer resources training materials and workflow improvements
  • Support the design and implementation of volunteer recognition program related activities includingVolunteer of the Month recognition and annual Feeding Hope volunteer appreciation reception
  • Build and maintain relationships with regular volunteers and long-time volunteers
  • Cultivate partnerships with local community organizations schools universities businesses faith-based groups and service organizations for ongoing volunteer recruitment
  • Support with Volunteer Relations Committee activities and initiatives and serve as lead for an assigned sub-committee
  • Provide shared oversight of the Volunteer Outreach Team with the Corporate and Community Engagement Specialist coordinating volunteer staffing for community events and advancing community relationships and engagement across the organization
  • Identify opportunities to improve VolunteerHub workflows and processes that enhance data quality operational efficiency and the volunteer experience
  • Partner with Development and CCET leadership to steward volunteers as current and prospective donors strengthen corporate partnerships and support donor cultivation strategies

Other Tasks: 5%

  • Execute administrative housekeeping safety and facilities tasks to support volunteer shifts including maintaining a clean lobby and locker area and coordinating building entry among other tasks
  • Execute volunteer safety plans and provide feedback to Safety Committee as relevant
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications on storytelling and content highlighting volunteer impact
  • Represent the volunteer program at volunteerrelated events and external engagements
  • Provide thought partnership to Western Slope and Wyoming volunteer teams as needed
  • Add relevant volunteer/donor correspondence and activities in Raisers Edge donor database to support Development team

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to fulfilling the Food Bank of the Rockies mission and positively representing the brand both internally and externally
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Ability to interact with others in a diplomatic courteous and positive manner
  • Comfortable with speaking to large groups and leading facility tours
  • Strong organizational multitasking and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently proactively and with sound judgment
  • Experience using volunteer management software for scheduling reporting and data entry (VolunteerHub preferred)
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and Microsoft Teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in volunteer coordination and/or customer service; nonprofit experience preferred
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience with VolunteerHub or similar volunteer management software preferred
  • Experience with donor CRM systems highly desired
  • Bilingual highly preferred Spanish preferred

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a non-exempt full-time hourly position working approximately 40 hours per week. The standard work schedule is Monday - Friday between 7:30 am 4:00 pm. Work schedules may vary and can include evenings.


Compensation:

$24.90 - $26.10 Hourly
