Summary
The Analyst Business Controller will lead accounting operations and financial reporting for India market operations with strong emphasis on audit preparedness financial controls and compliance infrastructure. This role ensures accurate financial records regulatory compliance and timely statutory filings while supporting audit readiness and management reporting. The ideal candidate combines technical accounting expertise with strong compliance knowledge and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Month-End Close
- Manage daily reviews of accounting entries bank reconciliations payroll TDS and general ledger maintenance in ERP system
- Lead month-end close activities including account reconciliations accrual management and financial statement preparation within established closing timelines.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations (Bank receivables inventory fixed assets payables) and investigate variances in a timely manner.
- Prepare and review management adjusting entries and ensure proper categorization of transactions per US/India GAAP/Ind AS standards.
- Maintain accounting policies manual and ensure consistency in application across all accounting functions.
- Manage data integrity within the SAP system including maintenance of master data chart of accounts and supporting documentation.
Taxation Statutory Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
- Ensure compliance with India GAAP (or Ind AS as applicable) accounting standards and maintain knowledge of recent updates and changes.
- Liaise with statutory auditors to provide supporting schedules clarifications and audit evidence in a timely manner.
- Support preparation and review of statutory financial statements and ensure alignment with regulatory filing requirements.
- Maintain understanding of India-specific regulatory obligations including:
- Income Tax compliance and direct tax provisions
- Goods and Services Tax (GST) implications on transactions and reporting
- Labour law provisions affecting payroll and benefits accounting
- Drugs & Cosmetics Act compliance requirements (for personal care/health supplement operations)
- RBI guidelines for external commercial borrowing (ECB) or currency management (if applicable)
- TDS:Monthly expense reconciliation TDS deposits quarterly Form 27Q returns Form 16A/16 issuance annual ITR filing
- GST:Record input/output transactions monthly reconciliations & payments file monthly/quarterly/annual returns (GSTR-1/3B/9)
- Prepare reconciliations of book records to tax filings and support tax provision calculations.
- Maintain documentation of significant accounting judgments and estimates for audit file purposes.
- Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction substantiation for multinational operations.
Financial Planning Analysis & Reporting
- Support preparation of monthly management accounts and variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Assist in identifying variances and providing commentary on key drivers of revenue gross margin and operating expense trends.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses to support management decision-making and strategic reviews.
- Support the preparation of key financial metrics and KPI reports for management and corporate oversight.
What you will need
- 5 Years of experience.
- Expert in TDS/GST laws India GAAP RoC filings RBI/FEMA regulations
- Advanced MS Excel Tally/SAP GST portal income tax e-filing proficiency
- Exposure to transfer pricing customs duty or international tax considerations
- Previous experience in consumer goods personal care beauty or health supplement industries.
- Prior involvement in internal audit control testing or SOX-equivalent compliance projects.
- Experience with cost audits under the Companies (Cost Records and Audit) Rules.
- Experience with ERP system implementations configuration or optimization.
