About the Team & the Position

The Energy Market Cyber Coordination (EMCC) team within AEMO Digital is responsible for coordinating cyber resilience for AEMO grids and markets. Through close collaboration with government and industry partners we deliver the capabilities required to: - support effective cyber incident response coordination; - support cyber preparedness and uplift of energy market participants; - investigate and understand emerging cyber risks and challenges to the energy sector; and - support information sharing across industry and government on cyber resilience.

This is a rare opportunity to play a foundational role in securing Australias energy future. You will be at the heart of a national priority working with the nations leading energy and security experts to ensure the grid remains resilient during its most significant period of change.

As theSpecialist Energy Market Cyber Partnerships you will occupy a high-impact position at the epicentre of Australias energy transition. Working within the Energy Market Cyber Coordination team you will be responsible for bridging the gap between technical cyber security imperatives and strategic stakeholder relations. You will lead activities under the engagement framework that connects the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) with industry leaders State and Commonwealth energy departments and security and emergency management agencies. Your mission is to build trust ensure alignment on critical cyber initiatives and communicate the vital benefits of a secure energy market to the broader community.

Position Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development & Execution: Support the design evolution and end-to-end implementation of the Energy Market Cyber Engagement Strategy.
  • Strategic Partnership Management: Act as the primary point of contact for complex stakeholders across industry and government ensuring their perspectives are integrated into AEMOs strategic initiatives.
  • High-Level Communications: Translate complex technical and regulatory cyber security information into compelling narratives for diverse audiences including at government and industry forums.
  • Reporting & Accountability: Establish frameworks to track analyse and report on the effectiveness of engagement activities against the overarching strategy.
  • Advocacy: Promote the value of the Energy Market Cyber Coordination teams work highlighting its role in national security and the stability of Australias energy future.

Position Requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • Energy Sector: Extensive experience (7 years) across the Australian energy sector and detailed understanding of Australian energy markets laws and rules.
  • Stakeholder Mastery: Proven experience managing senior-level relationships within industry and government sectors (Energy Security or Emergency Management experience is highly regarded).
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture of the energy transition while managing the granular details of a communications rollout.
  • Exceptional Communication: Mastery of written and verbal communication with the ability to influence outcomes and simplify complex subject matter.
  • Project Governance: Experience in reporting delivery metrics and managing the lifecycle of an engagement strategy

Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.

Education/ professional Certifications:

  • Mandatory: Tertiary qualifications in Communications Journalism Public Policy or a related field; OR equivalent extensive industry experience.
  • Desirable: Post-graduate qualifications (e.g. Masters in Strategic Communications MBA or Public Policy)
