The AECOM Water Business Line is seeking a Project Manager Water Resources Engineerr to join the Phoenix AZ office. This role focuses on hydrology and hydraulic modeling stormwater and roadway drainage design and municipal water resources projects. The position supports delivery of mid- to large-scale infrastructure projects while progressively transitioning into a Project Management role through the AECOMs proprietary PM certification program. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership mentor junior staff support client relationships and contribute to business development within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment.
Job Description
- Serve as lead engineer or discipline lead for mid- to large-scale water resources and stormwater infrastructure projects
- Direct preparation and delivery of construction packages including design drawings specifications cost estimates alternatives analyses technical memoranda and design reports
- Plan schedule and coordinate detailed phases of engineering projects with a focus on stormwater management systems
- Perform and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses supporting drainage flood mitigation and roadway projects
- Lead conceptual and final design of water management infrastructure such as channels culverts detention facilities levees floodwalls spillways and associated access features
- Ensure designs incorporate erosion control measures geosynthetics and surface and subsurface drainage systems
- Provide technical oversight independent reviews and approval of engineering analyses and design deliverables
- Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams including subcontractors typically consisting of five or more team members
- Mentor and provide technical direction to junior engineers and designers
- Support client coordination present design solutions and contribute to development of project proposals and business growth initiatives
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with 8 years of relevant professional experience
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Arizona or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in Civil Engineering or related field of study
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with 15 years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated expertise in stormwater evaluation and design including 1D/2D hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Proficiency with industry-standard modeling software (e.g. HEC-RAS HEC-HMS SRH-2D)
- Experience leading design tasks on complex water resources or design-build projects
- Strong understanding of stormwater permitting floodplain management and regulatory coordination
- Experience developing grading drainage and roadway plans in coordination with CAD designers (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
- Proven ability to manage scope budget and schedule for complex engineering tasks
- Experience preparing technical reports calculation packages and construction documentation
- Demonstrated technical review and quality control oversight experience
- Strong analytical skills with sound application of civil engineering design principles
- Effective communicator with the ability to lead teams and collaborate with other team members
