Summary:

The Supervisor Electrical Maintenance oversees the technicians responsible for installing maintaining and troubleshooting substation equipment within substations for Duquesne Lights transmission and distribution networks. They ensure field crews follow safety protocols project timelines compliance regulations and technical specifications while coordinating with engineering teams to resolve issues. This role requires strong leadership technical and mechanical aptitude and the ability to manage multiple projects across various locations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe work practices and oversee training criteria for Electrical Maintenance technicians in the Substation department.
  • Plan schedule and supervise the daily work activities of employees in the Substation Electrical Maintenance department and establish and maintain performance measures to optimize productivity.
  • Oversee substation equipment inspection maintenance programs.
  • Ensure Electrical Maintenance groups adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Oversee and support substation equipment testing repairs and replacements.
  • Analyze failures and collaborate with substation support groups to determine extent of damage and estimated outage duration including the ability to direct repair work to minimize down time.
  • Ensure department is outfitted by procuring procedures tools test equipment parts vehicle etc. necessary for daily activities.
  • Ensure work practices and procedures in the department are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Storm team duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in a relevant field and 5 years of experience in the electric utility field operations environment with a concentration in substation maintenance and construction required. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working in a bargaining unit environment.
  • Familiar with OSHA and industrial safety practices.
  • Valid Drivers License Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Although combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered a university or college degree is preferred.

Scope

Primary focus is on day to day management of operational execution for areas managed. Trains and develops staff. Plans the work flow. Directs available resources to accomplish process improvement. Leads work flow changes and implementations for direct team.

Decision Impact

Problems and issues are undefined and require detailed info gathering analysis and investigation to understand/resolve. Makes decisions that address work flow issues considering immediate impact on own function or work unit.

Storm Roles

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
