Were on the lookout for a full time Community Link Worker to join our friendly and enthusiastic team in Newcastle (East). This is a temporary position until the end November 2026 with a possibility of extension should we secure a further contract following a tender process.

What youll do:

Youll work with older people to build local connections and friendships. Youll make sure that the people you work with are looking after themselves and that they have a life that is bigger than social care support.

  • For David this meant helping him to set up WhatsApp on his phone so that he can connect with family who live away.
  • For Carol it was about setting alarms so that she remembered to take her tablets. Now she feels less anxious shes getting out and about and meeting other Members.

Youll feel inspired and help inspire people. Youll encourage them to try new things and have new experiences. Youll reassure but you wont take over. Every Member you support is unique and every day will be different.

Your role will be out and about. Youll facilitate groups in community venues

What you wont be expected to do:

We support people with a lot of different things to do with leading an ordinary life but we dont do things like bathing people or taking them to the toilet. This is sometimes called personal care. If people need personal care we will work with other local support providers to make sure they get what they need.
