POSITION TITLE:Attendance Clerk - Middle School
EXEMPTION STATUS:Non-exempt
REPORTS TO:Campus Administrator Assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:10 months
HOURLY SALARY RANGE:Minimum $13.79 Midpoint $17.24 Maximum $20.69
Primary Purpose
Maintain accurate attendance records for the campus. Perform data entry including attendance Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data and grades.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to use computer and software to develop spreadsheets databases and perform word processing
Effective organizational communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
Ability to meet established deadlines
Experience
Two years related experience and/or training
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Records and Reports
- Enter student enrollment data and withdrawals in accordance with District policy and in compliance with PEIMS reporting standards.
- Collect and enter attendance and PEIMS data into established database and verify accuracy according to established procedures.
- Prepare and print reports including attendance reports grades class or personnel rosters end-of-semester reports or accounting reports.
- Maintain physical and computerized records including student cumulative folders progress and failure reports class rosters grade books and schedule changes if applicable.
- Process new student records including requesting transcripts and records from other schools setting up cumulative folder and entering student data into appropriate databases if applicable.
- Process and transmit requests for student information and transcripts as assigned.
- Assist with leaver accounting.
- Assist in collecting verifying entering and maintaining data as assigned.
- Assist with campus office duties as needed.
Communication
- Assist parents students and faculty with questions regarding student attendance.
- Call parents to verify student absences as needed.
- Report all attendance problems to designated administrator and/or truant officer and file truancy court andcontempt of court referrals as assigned.
- Establish and maintain appropriate communication and a professional relationship with students parents and colleagues.
- Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the district and demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible as set out in the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student and district information.

- Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills and demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and special events as assigned.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting
- Motion: Occasional walking; frequent repetitive hand motions keyboarding use of mouse wrist flexion/extension
- Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance 30-55 pounds with assistance and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
- Environment: Work in office setting; occasional exposure to contagious diseases; occasional irregular or prolonged hours
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruption
