The Data Engineer is responsible for designing building and supporting scalable high-quality data solutions that enable reliable analytical and reporting capabilities across the organisation. Working closely with system implementation teams business stakeholders and other data engineers the role translates data requirements into enterprise-aligned data pipelines models and semantic views ensuring data consistency quality and operational readiness across legacy and newly implemented systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Data Requirements Translation: Work collaboratively with system implementation teams business stakeholders and other data engineers to define data requirements and translate them into scalable technical data solutions.
Data Pipeline Design Development and Implementation: Design develop and implement data pipelines using SQL and Python to ingest and transform data from new systems populating the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and/or exposing data directly for analytical and reporting solutions.
Reuse of Enterprise Data Engineering Building Blocks: Leverage established data engineering building blocks to accelerate implementation timelines.
Enterprise Data Modelling and Semantic Layer Development: Create and maintain data models and semantic views predominantly based on the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) including the use of InterSystems IRIS BI cubes where applicable to expose trusted data for analytical and reporting for newly implemented systems.
Data Consistency and Lineage Assurance: Ensure data consistency between source systems and downstream data structures and views.
Application of Enterprise Data Standards: Apply data standards to ensure consistency across legacy and new systems.
Data Quality Validation and Reconciliation: Ensure data quality through validation reconciliation and completeness checks.
Operational Readiness Monitoring and Issue Resolution: Support operational readiness by implementing monitoring error handling and issue resolution processes for data solutions.
Technical Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Provide clear documentation to support handover operational support and future enhancements.
