Job Summary

Workplace Solution Engineer

The Level 3 Solution Engineer is responsible for the research design build configuration and implementation of virtualization and modern workplace management solutions. This global role requires advanced technical expertise in VDI and virtualization services (primarily Omnissa/VMware Horizon) automation and networking skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure scalable and high-performing services. The engineer leads complex projects troubleshoots advanced issues and ensures best practices for system architecture deployment and security.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research design implement and optimize virtualization and workplace management solutions (Omnissa formerly VMware Horizon vSphere Horizon Cloud Service etc.).

  • Build configure and deploy Horizon Cloud Service Horizon 8 on-premises or other virtualization environments.

  • Collaborate with networking teams to manage advanced network configuration and segmentation for secure VDI deployments.

  • Manage Windows OS imaging optimization and deployment for virtual environments.

  • Conduct capacity planning performance tuning and scalability assessments.

  • Implement security hardening compliance measures and enforce standards for access and integrity.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting root cause analysis and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.

  • Document architecture configurations and operational procedures for knowledge sharing.

  • Recommend solutions aligned with business needs articulate pros/cons of architectural decisions and assist in project specification development.

  • Support and guide other deployment team members and business groups in creating desktop pools and planning capacity.

  • Identify opportunities to innovate extend and enhance service delivery.

  • Own problem management for VDI Windows environments.

  • Translate technical issues into understandable business language for end users.

Skills

  • 7 years of experience in managing and maintaining Microsoft Windows environments (Windows 10/11 Windows server 2016) imaging and optimization.

  • 4 years of experience managing large scale VDI deployments or related workplace services management experience

  • Strong networking and network segmentation skills; understanding of protocols (TCP/IP PCoIP Blast RDP etc.).

  • Experience with Active Directory & Entra ID.

  • Microsoft Azure (subscriptions resource groups virtual networks storage accounts).

  • Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager for device and application management.

  • Microsoft Office 365 suite and collaboration tools (Teams SharePoint OneDrive Viva Engage).

  • Experience with virtualized environments thin/zero clients and published application delivery.

  • Experience with Microsoft EMS suite Omnissa (VMware) DEM App Volumes and Microsoft FSLogix (or similar user profile virtualization tool).

  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for VDI and related infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO NIST).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and rapidly integrate/support new environments.

  • Understanding of identity and access management concepts (MFA federation SAML SSO Kerberos etc)

Special skills / Certifications / Requirements if any

  • Certifications: Microsoft Azure Omnissa / VMware Horizon VMware Specialist ITIL V4 Foundation or related solution(s)

  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale VDI environments.

  • Automation and scripting (PowerShell required; Python a plus).

  • Linux experience/administration is a plus.
