Job Summary

The EHS Manager is responsible for safety strategy and the development of safety policies and practices. The incumbent is responsible for providing and promoting a workplace focused on compliance with all Federal State and Local Industrial Standards.

  • Develop implement and maintain EHS policies procedures and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA EPA and other applicable regulations.

  • Work with training department to develop and provide safety training for employees assuring that we are providing a safe and secure work environment.

  • Oversee the investigation of work-related illness and injuries; investigating all accidents and assuring corrective actions are implemented.

  • Champion Human Performance principles through training tools and event learning teams.

  • Collaborate with operations maintenance and HR to address safety concerns.

  • Assist with Workers Compensation claims for the plant.

  • Organize and facilitate employee Safety Committee.

  • Facilitate audits to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards determine corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

  • Responsible for plant security - communicate and direct plant security company.

  • BS degree in safety industrial hygiene or environmental related discipline and 5 years experience in EHS or related field

  • Certification preferred (CIH CSP and/or CHP)

  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA EPA and state-specific regulations.

  • Experience with hazardous materials air permits and environmental reporting.

  • Excellent communication leadership and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be a team player that interacts effectively with co- workers in group or in independent cooperative activities.

  • Ability to function under pressure and able to prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.

  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours as needed.

You should be proficient in:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA)
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
