We are looking for a Learning & Development Specialist who will support company-wide learning and development by coordinating and facilitating orientation managing learning programs and records creating and curating training content and providing administrative and inperson support for organizational development initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Acknowledge greet and assist customers in a timely and professional manner at the front desk
  • Handle telephone and electronic inquiries efficiently and effectively
  • Identify the needs and provide the appropriate level of assistance to the customer

Training Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to provide 1:1 and/or small group trainings

Learning & Development Support

  • Source learning opportunities upon request
  • Curate learning plans for employees as needed
  • Develop learning content and presentation materials for all OD events
  • Provide in-person support for all Formal Learning Program workshops
  • Create and maintain a branded presentation within our learning environments
  • Source content for Curtis Lumber Connect library
  • Develop bespoke learning content for Curtis Lumber learning libraries

New Hire Orientation (NHO)

  • Coordinate and facilitate New Hire Orientation
  • Administer track and report employees progress in Frame to Finish

Administrative

  • Provide administrative support to Formal Learning Program mentors
  • Maintain employee learning records in Curtis EHS
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Organizational Development
  • Research and apply for educational grants

  • Must be able to interact and communicate with supervisors coworkers and customers in a positive and professional manner.

  • Complete required monthly safety involvement
  • Use proper PPE when required
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Be aware of surroundings at all times
  • Work safely at all times

General Expectations

  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Develop new and existing skills through educational programs including seminars product knowledge training and clinics
  • Willing to become a member of a committee/team for current or new programs to ensure their success
  • Attendance at Company/store meetings is mandatory

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree in Education High School and/or classroom experience. Internal applicants must have at least two years experience with Curtis Lumber.
  • Language Ability: Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with individuals inside and outside of the company
  • Math Ability: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required to accurately complete assigned tasks
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer needs and to recommend the proper course of action.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient keyboard and computer skills including Microsoft office and other Company and discipline specific software applications
  • Certificates and License: None are required
