The Business Development & Strategic Initiatives Representative is a hybrid growth execution role responsible for expanding transport volume strengthening referral relationships and driving internal initiatives that improve market position payer mix and operational efficiency.
This role is not sales-only and not operations-only. It sits at the intersection of:
- Facility relationships (hospitals SNFs LTACs clinics)
- Contract and volume growth
- Data-driven market expansion
- Cross-department execution of strategic projects
You will work directly with executive leadership (COO/CEO) Operations and Dispatch to ensure growth is profitable sustainable and operationally executable.
Core Objectives
- Increase high-quality transport volume (BLS ALS CCT where applicable)
- Improve facility loyalty and retention
- Support strategic initiatives tied to growth efficiency and competitive advantage
- Align business development efforts with real operational capacity
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with:
- Hospital case management & discharge planners
- Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs)
- LTACs IRFs dialysis centers specialty clinics
- Conduct regular in-person facility visits and check-ins
- Serve as the primary non-clinical liaison for assigned accounts
- Identify service gaps pain points and growth opportunities at each facility
- Support onboarding of new facilities and accounts
2. Volume Growth & Market Expansion
- Identify high-potential territories facilities and service lines
- Support expansion of:
- BLS IFT
- ALS / specialty transports
- CCT (if applicable)
- Assist with new market launches and territory rollouts
- Track referral patterns call volume trends and competitive landscape
3. Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects
- Lead or support internal strategic initiatives such as:
- New service line launches
- Facility-specific pilot programs
- Dispatch workflow improvements tied to growth
- Facility education programs (what to call when and how)
- Coordinate across Operations Dispatch Billing and Compliance
- Turn executive strategy into executed projects not just ideas
4. Data Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Track and report on:
- Facility-level transport volume
- Growth trends by account
- Market penetration by region
- Maintain CRM or tracking tools (Excel Google Sheets or CRM platform)
- Prepare weekly and monthly executive summaries
- Support ROI analysis for marketing and growth initiatives
5. Brand Representation & Professional Presence
- Represent the company professionally at facilities and industry events
- Ensure consistent messaging around:
- Service capabilities
- Response expectations
- Clinical levels of care
- Support marketing collateral deployment (one-pagers leave-behinds digital assets)
Required Qualifications
- 2 5 years experience in healthcare business development EMS medical transport or healthcare operations
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable in hospital SNF and clinical environments
- High organizational skills and follow-through
- Data-driven mindset (Excel / Sheets proficiency required)
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally
- Requires driving and/or flying to various locations.
- Requires current and valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Evening and weekend hours required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in and Familiarity with:
- Ambulance IFT or EMS operations
- Healthcare contracting or referral-based services
- Case management or discharge planning environments
- BLS / ALS / CCT transport distinctions
