Introduction to the role
In partnership with our client we are seeking a Head of Country Ops (Nigeria) to serve as the chief architect of market expansion and operational excellence for a fast-growing fintech building a smart wealth management platform. You will be a pivotal strategic partner responsible for establishing scaling and running Nigeria operations end-to-endbridging the gap between global product innovation and the unique high-growth realities of the Nigerian financial ecosystem. If you are an execution-focused leader who can drive revenue navigate complex stakeholder networks balance growth with compliance and represent the organization with composure and authority on the national stage we want to meet you.
Who are we looking for
  • You are a seasoned leader with 7 years of experience in operations country management or senior operational leadership ideally with proven experience operating in Nigerias fintech financial services or regulated sectors.
  • You are a high-achiever who is naturally driven by results revenue milestones and aggressive growth targets with a strong execution mindset and the ability to move from strategy to action.
  • You are a master of stakeholder management with excellent communication judgement and leadership skills equally comfortable negotiating with top-tier regulators as you are with C-suite executives and enterprise partners.
  • You are resilient possessing the professional stamina and grit required to navigate the high-pressure environment of a 0 to 1 market entry while operating comfortably in startup environments.
  • You are a credible representative with strong understanding of Nigerias regulatory and business environment carrying yourself with the polish and clarity necessary to lead a national expansion and inspire a growing team.
Your Responsibilities
Country Leadership and amp; Strategic Execution
  • You will own the execution of the Nigeria market entry and scale strategy taking full ownership of regional goals and ensuring every barrier to market entry is cleared.
  • You will translate company-wide goals into clear country-level operational plans and targets ensuring alignment between global strategy and local realities.
  • You will act as the primary operational owner for Nigeria and a trusted execution partner to the CEO and leadership team.
  • You will communicate regularly with leadership on progress risks and opportunities.
Regulatory Coordination and amp; Compliance
  • You will work closely with the Head of Compliance (Nigeria) to ensure regulatory readiness and ongoing compliance.
  • You will support licensing processes regulatory engagements audits and inspections.
  • You will ensure compliance requirements are embedded into daily operations partnerships and product rollouts.
  • You will act as a senior representative of the company in regulator and partner engagements when required.
Partnerships and amp; Business Development
  • You will leverage your existing network to secure high-leverage partnerships that accelerate brand credibility and market share.
  • You will lead operational relationships with banking partners payment service providers and strategic fintech partners.
  • You will support partner onboarding contract execution and operational performance.
  • You will ensure partners meet compliance service and performance expectations.
  • You will drive revenue generation by identifying high-value commercial opportunities and converting them into successful scalable business cases.
Operations and amp; Performance Management
  • You will build and run the operational cadence for Nigeria including weekly and monthly reviews KPIs and dashboards and action tracking and follow-through.
  • You will monitor country-level performance metrics and flag risks early.
  • You will continuously improve processes to support scale speed and reliability.
  • You will manage budgets contracts and service providers with cost discipline.
People and amp; Team Leadership
  • You will hire onboard and manage Nigeria-based team members.
  • You will build a high-performance accountable and values-aligned team culture.
  • You will oversee people operations in collaboration with HR including performance management and development.
  • You will ensure clarity of roles responsibilities and expectations across the team.
  • You will successfully transition the local team from a remote start-up phase into a structured high-performing office environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • You will work closely with the CEO CCO VP of Product and Engineering Head of Operations Compliance and Customer Experience teams to translate company strategy into on-the-ground execution in Nigeria.
  • You will act as the critical liaison between the global product team and local market needs ensuring the solution remains the gold standard for Nigerian users.

  • Establish a clear path to profitability and secure major enterprise contracts within your first 12 months.
  • Build a recognizable and trusted brand presence within the local fintech and investment ecosystem.
  • Successfully transition the local team from a remote start-up phase into a structured high-performing office environment.
  • Achieve regulatory readiness and maintain ongoing compliance with zero regulatory friction.
  • Build and maintain strong operational relationships with key banking and payment partners.
  • Establish a high-performing operational cadence with clear KPIs dashboards and accountability systems.
To be considered for this role you should have
  • 7 years of experience in operations country management or senior operational leadership.
  • Proven experience operating in Nigerias fintech financial services or regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerias regulatory and business environment.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • A deep active network within the Nigerian financial services and regulatory sectors.
  • Strong execution mindset with the ability to move from strategy to action.
  • Comfort operating in startup environments.
  • Excellent communication judgement and leadership skills.
  • Proven expertise in business development high-stakes negotiation and stakeholder management.
  • A documented track record of high achievement in high-growth high-pressure startup environments.
  • Experience working with regulators banks or large institutional partners is a strong advantage.
