Job Summary
A prestigious independent boarding school in Oxford is seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Science to lead its department from April 2026. The Role
Leading and managing the Science department across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Driving high standards of teaching learning and assessment across all science disciplines
Overseeing curriculum development sequencing and examination outcomes
Supporting and developing staff through coaching and performance management
Managing departmental budgets resources and laboratory compliance
Contributing to whole-school leadership and the wider boarding community
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
A degree in a Science subject or closely related field
Proven experience teaching Science at secondary level including KS5
Previous leadership experience within a Science department
A strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes
Excellent organisational communication and leadership skills
