UW Continuum College has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Program Manager to join the Academic Programs (AP) team!
About the position:
A Senior Program Manager manages implements maintains expands delivers evaluates and revises a portfolio of high-quality university-level non-credit educational programs (see ). A Senior Program Manager manages all aspects of their portfolio programs: from recruiting and working with advisory boards to ensure program curricula and format are closely aligned to market demand to hiring and supervising program instructional teams to ensuring the program meets academic quality targets to full program budget management and oversight. This work entails close collaboration with external subject matter experts and internal partners including instructional design marketing operations HR and IT.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Planning & Implementation:
- Plans manages executes evaluates and revises a portfolio of high-quality non-credit educational programs in a variety of formats including classroom blended and online
- Determines optimum program type (certificate course short course conference etc.) that best serves learning objectives and maximizes enrollment
- Updates program learning objectives in response to changing market needs and conducts regular strategic program planning for the next 1-3 years in collaboration with advisory boards instructors and internal staff
- Researches data examines the environment surveys students and instructors to understand issues and proposes solutions for programs that are struggling
- Taken together the portfolio is comprised of approximately 500 to 750 enrollments and some programs are offered in more than one format
Supervision:
- Recruits hires trains manages evaluates and retained approximately 15-30 contracted instructors developers and other instructional team members for portfolio of certificates and courses
- Uses existing training materials to onboard and coach instructional team members and work closely with UWC² Learning Experience Instructor Development team to ensure instructors receive ongoing training and support for all program formats
- Occasionally tailors existing training materials to meet unique needs of portfolio programs
Financial Management:
- Sets oversees and manages program budgets and budget forecasts
- Manages and sets program-level compensation for instructors instructional assistants and developers
- Is a good steward of managing program costs to align with UWC² objectives
- Understands the implications of financial models revenue sources and higher education budgeting processes relevant to the fiscal management of a UWC²
- The portfolio generally has a total gross revenue of approximately $750000
New Program Development And Expansion Of Existing Offerings:
- Leads and implements at least one new growth initiative per year
- Plans and manages curriculum revision projects that involve a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Expands existing offerings to meet market demand as needed
- Contributes new program development ideas and subject matter expert connections to the Professional & Special Programs team
Relationship Management:
- Recruits and engages advisory board members extension lecturers and other program staff
- Recruits new Subject Matter Experts to engage in new program development or to extend programming
- Actively networks and participates in professional communities of practice within the scope of the assigned portfolio to build relationships that contribute to program growth
- Works cross-functionally within UWC2 to implement program logistics instructor hiring program promotion and improvements to the student experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelors degree plus 4 years of applicable work experience
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and have complex problem-solving skills that call for evidence-based decision making
- Demonstrated program planning and implementation skills
- Experience managing program budgets and budget forecasting for the purposes of achieving optimal organizational performance
- Employs market research and prospective student/participant needs to guide marketing activities and aspects of program delivery and new program development
- Experience recruiting hiring training managing evaluating and retaining a combination of extension lecturers instructors and other staff
- Understands curriculum design sourcing and revisions inclusive of learning strategies and theories delivering instruction and supporting programmatic outcomes and objectives
- Other qualities necessary for successful performance in the position include excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a professional manner as both a self-starter and a team member
