POSITION SUMMARY


The Court Coordinator is an exempt/confidential position that reports directly to the Assistant Court Operations Manager. Confidential and Professional positions within the Court are at-will positions which means your employment with the Court is subject to termination by you or the Court with or without cause and with or without notice at any time. Furthermore this position is grant funded and employment is subject to funding availability.

The primary assignment of the Court Coordinator will be to the Tribal and State Family Wellness Courts. The vision for this Court draws on the strong partnership between the Humboldt Superior Court local Tribes and robust partnerships with community stakeholders. The Court Coordinator will provide both operational and policy support to the judiciary and the Court team members. These responsibilities include overseeing the Family Wellness Courts daily operations strategic planning grant management development of policies and procedures grant and other funding development and coordination of interagency and community partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

  • Establish government-to-government relationships with tribes in the region.
  • Represent the Court and serve as the Courts primary contact:
    • Developing strong working relationships with tribal representatives service providers public and private entities community stakeholders and the public;
    • Serving as liaison between Court team members;
    • Managing relationships with community partners; and
    • Responding to all inquiries.
  • In collaboration with the Court team develop Court policies and operating procedures that reflect tribal healing to wellness restorative justice and evidenced-based approaches.
  • Convene meetings of the steering committee core team systems meetings and working groups to discuss issues and track progress.
  • Coordinate ongoing education for judges and the Court team and as part of the Court team participate in these continuing educational opportunities.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Court which includes responsibilities related to:
    • Legal screening (determination of whether the prospective participant meets the eligibility criteria for the Court);
    • Orientation to the Court (overview of Court process and expectations);
    • Case files (up-to-date with applicable program requirements and Court reports containing relevant information from Court team members and monitoring compliance with legal requirements)
    • Case staffing (schedule these meetings usually held just prior to Court appearances for participants and Court team members; assist the judges with any case preparation for these meetings and attend them as appropriate);
    • Standard phased treatment calendar of activities culminating in graduation
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure:
    • Grant implementation guidelines and milestones are tracked and accomplished;
    • Data and other information are collected as part of evaluating the Court;
    • Data and other information are collected for evaluating compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act and other relevant statutes and codes.
  • Coordinate logistics of the collection of data and other information with the Court team and track progress.
  • Prepare progress reports as needed for judges management funders and other justice partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Prioritize work assignments and work to meet deadlines;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted through the course of work; and
  • Operate a computer and other related office equipment.

ABILITY TO

  • Analyze complex technical and administrative problems and evaluation alternatives;
  • Prepare clear concise and accurate records and reports;
  • Effectively represent the Court in answering questions responding to inquiries providing assistance and addressing concerns from Court staff County Judicial Council of California and other agencies;
  • Keep relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables thereby ensuring smooth completions of work responsibilities;
  • Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant funded programs;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with judges government officials attorneys employees and the general public;
  • Encourage and promote an effective team atmosphere by providing leadership and assistance to creatively innovatively and flexibly solve problems in a cooperative and systematic manner;
  • Collect interpret and evaluate a variety of narrative and statistical data; perform research and prepare written and oral presentations for Court management and the bench;
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment; and
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The following combinations of education and experience that likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities are qualifying.

Education level equivalent to a high school diploma or GED experience involving grant writing and grant management courtroom support collaborative programs Child Welfare Services social work or work with Tribal agencies is helpful but not required.
