The Estuaries Team of the Marine Coast Estuary and Flood Branch is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer for immediate start until 29 January 2027. The Senior Project Officer focuses on developing and implementing policy and program initiatives providing expert advice on complex estuarine and coastal management issues and working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to achieve integrated state-wide outcomes for communities and the environment.

About You

You are a collaborative and practical estuary professional with strong knowledge of estuary processes and coastal management issues across NSW. You have experience developing and implementing policy and programs working with teams and engaging stakeholders. You provide clear practical advice communicate effectively through reports and briefings and use sound judgement when managing complex or sensitive issues. You are committed to sharing knowledge and delivering effective estuary management outcomes for communities and the environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate degree level tertiary qualification in natural resources environmental science engineering marine biology or related disciplines

To be successful in the role you can:

  • Build strong collaborative relationships across teams regions and stakeholders to deliver coordinated state-wide estuary management outcomes.
  • Apply sound technical knowledge of estuary processes legislation policy and program design to develop practical evidence-based solutions to complex issues.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively through high-quality written materials briefings and stakeholder engagement including on sensitive or controversial matters.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking sound judgement and adaptability while managing competing priorities in a complex multi-disciplinary environment.
