Position Summary

Teach German to Upper School students grades 9 12. Affection for students in this age group an understanding of their needs and energy and a willingness to work collaboratively with staff administration and parents.

Essential Duties

Execute lesson plans designed for German 2 3 4
To plan and prepare any necessary additional lessons in order to facilitate daily instruction and enhance student understanding and fluency
To instill in students appreciation for the German language and culture
To create and manage a caring supportive purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to student learning
To maintain a regular system of monitoring assessment record-keeping and reporting of student progress
To monitor a small group of students in an advisor capacity
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in German advanced degree preferred
Teaching certificate not necessary but favorably considered
Teaching experience in grades 9-12; upper level experience preferred
Proficient and enthusiastic user of technology
Professional collegiality and enthusiasm for young people required
