The Opportunity
In this full-time on-site role the Physician Assistant serves as a core member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. This position provides psychiatric evaluation medication management and ongoing medical oversight within a structured PHP/IOP setting. The Physician Assistant plays a critical role in clinical assessment treatment planning regulatory compliance and ongoing coordination of care to support safe and effective recovery outcomes.
What You Will Do at Coastal Recovery
- Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments for PHP and IOP patients upon admission and throughout treatment.
- Provide medication management in accordance with scope of practice supervisory agreements and program protocols.
- Monitor patient response to psychotropic and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) related medications.
- Collaborate closely with therapists nurses and case management staff to ensure integrated coordinated care.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical reviews.
- Ensure timely accurate and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Support continuity of care including coordination with external providers and referral sources when needed.
- Adhere to all applicable South Carolina licensing supervision and program requirements.
What You Bring to Coastal Recovery
- Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) credential in the State of South Carolina active and in good standing.
- Active DEA registration (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Demonstrated experience in behavioral health psychiatry or substance use disorder treatment is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of psychotropic medications MAT protocols and monitoring requirements.
- Strong clinical judgment assessment skills and ability to manage complex client presentations.
- Commitment to trauma-informed culturally responsive and person-centered care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary behavioral health environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and clinical documentation.
