TheSenior Accountant supports the timely preparation of periodic financial statements analysis of financial information financial forecasting and the maintenance of effective internal controls. This position is inventory-focused and serves as the key contact for inventory accounting standard cost review/adjustments and physical inventory control methods across multiple groups.

Primary Responsibilities
- Plan set up and administer accounting systems; prepare accurate financial information
- Prepare financial analysis including financial statements and ad hoc analysis
- Develop or enhance tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for day-to-day operational decision-making
- Develop and maintain reporting and internal control procedures
Inventory Focus
- Serve as the primary contact for standard cost reviews including cost updates reviews and adjustments as required
- Own and improve physical inventory tracking methods including year-end counts and/or cycle count programs
- Oversee inventory accounting processes across groups (e.g. aggregates MSL garages/stores fuel and other categories as required)
- Investigate and resolve inventory variances by identifying root causes and partnering with operations to improve accuracy
- Strengthen inventory controls and documentation including count procedures approvals and reconciliation support
Additional Accounting Support
- Support intercompany reconciliations (including AP/AR and due to/due from as applicable) ensuring timely investigation and resolution of variances
- Support annual external audit activities (working papers reconciliations and other requested support)
- Assist with regular compliance matters as required
- Coach and train other accountants or administrative clerks as needed
Working Conditions
- Standard office environment. Overtime hours may be required during month-end or year-end processing.
Education and Experience
- Knowledge of finance accounting and inventory control principles including GAAP
- Knowledge of financial/accounting software applications (SAP is an asset)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare financial reports statements and projections
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- CPA candidates or designates preferred
- Strong ability to dig into systems and workflows to understand underlying processes that drive data and translate findings into process/control improvements proficiency in excel is ideal.
Compensation Information:
- The expected salary range for this position is $70000 - $110000. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
