This role is part of FuntoNetworks strategic expansion of dedicated onsite engineering teams supporting our premier enterprise clients. We are placing a seasoned IT Support Engineer directly at a leading financial services institution in Lower Manhattan. The New York Metro area represents the densest concentration of financial markets regulatory infrastructure and global headquarters in the Eastern USA. By embedding our talent onsite we deliver whiteglove infrastructure support rapid incident response and proactive system optimisation that aligns perfectly with our clients missioncritical operations.

Location Requirement:

  • Primary: Must reside within a reasonable commute to Lower Manhattan (NYC boroughs Hudson County NJ Western Long Island).
  • Secondary: Northern NJ Westchester CT candidates willing to travel to NYC daily.
  • Avoid: Remoteonly candidates; West Coast Mountain or Central time zones cannot be accommodated due to onsite mandate.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated customercentric IT Support Engineer to join our team on a longterm clientdedicated contract. You will be placed onsite at a premier financial services client in downtown Manhattan functioning as a key member of their infrastructure team while enjoying the backing and resources of FuntoNetwork. Your primary mission: ensure the stability security and performance of the clients Windows Server environment Nutanix hypervisor infrastructure Active Directory and network services. You will handle everything from daily user administration and patch management to disaster recovery testing and security compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise across the Microsoft/Nutanix stack a relentless customer service mindset and the poise to interact with both executives and helpdesk staff. This is a highvisibility highimpact role for an engineer who thrives in fastpaced regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Maintenance & Patching:

    • Execute monthly patch cycles for Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) Nutanix AHV hosts and firmware across physical and virtual infrastructure.
    • Perform Darksite patching procedures with zero production downtime.
    • Manage Nutanix cluster health VM lifecycle and storage optimisation.
  • Active Directory & Identity Management:

    • Administer user/group accounts security groups Group Policy and domain trust relationships.
    • Ensure regular backup and recoverability of Active Directory and domain controllers.
    • Support hybrid identity integrations (Azure AD Connect) as needed.
  • Server & Storage Administration:

    • Maintain Windows Server file/print services application servers and IIS.
    • Monitor RAID configurations SAN/NAS connectivity and storage capacity.
    • Perform server hardening in line with CIS benchmarks and client security policies.
  • Network Troubleshooting:

    • Diagnose and resolve issues related to DHCP DNS TCP/IP routing and firewall policies.
    • Collaborate with clients network team to validate ACLs VLAN segmentation and encryption protocols.
    • Use packet capture tools for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Security & Compliance Support:

    • Implement and verify security baselines BitLocker encryption and EDR agent deployment.
    • Assist with physical security systems integration (Prowatch Genetec) strong plus.
    • Participate in internal and external security audits; remediate findings.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:

    • Maintain and test disaster recovery plans for critical systems.
    • Perform scheduled backup/restore operations using enterprise backup solutions (Veeam CommVault).
    • Document recovery procedures and lead annual DR drills.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimisation:

    • Utilise monitoring tools (SolarWinds PRTG SCOM) to track system health and capacity.
    • Analyse performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and recommend scaling strategies.
    • Produce monthly performance reports for client leadership.
  • Automation & Scripting:

    • Develop PowerShell scripts to automate patch deployment user provisioning log collection and reporting.
    • Maintain a library of reusable automation modules.
  • EndUser Support & VIP Service:

    • Provide 1 experience support for executives and staff whiteglove responsive and professional.
    • Troubleshoot Windows 10/11 Office 365 printers and mobile devices.
    • Serve as the highest level of escalation for the clients helpdesk.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:

    • Create and maintain system diagrams runbooks KB articles and network topology documentation.
    • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with clients internal team.
  • OnCall & AfterHours Support:

    • Participate in a rotating oncall schedule (1 week per month).
    • Willing to work evenings weekends and overtime for scheduled maintenance windows or critical incident response.
    • Travel to clients secondary NYCmetro sites as needed.
  • Hardware Handling:

    • Lift and transport servers UPS units network equipment (up to 50 lbs).
    • Assist with datacenter racking/stacking cable management and asset inventory.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive IT infrastructure and support experience with at least 5 years dedicated to Windows Server Active Directory and virtualization administration in enterprise environments (1000 users).

  • Prior experience in financial services banking or insurance IT environments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure AWS) and hybrid identity.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes incident problem change asset management.
